What’s In a Name?

Posted on March 16, 2025April 23, 2025 by Nancy

So by now you may be wondering what the name “Flavors of the Day” has to do with anything I’ve been talking about. Well, in early January, 2025, Rob had a job interview for a “lead grocery supplier” at Yellowstone. He had held a similar job last year, and lived in the employee housing at Mammoth Hot Springs. But this job posting specified that the employee would need to provide their own housing. Just what we’ve been waiting for! Long story short, he got the job. But with the stipulation that his wife needed a job too. I stayed in Chicago while he was at Yellowstone last summer, but I didn’t want to be left out again. Turns out, there was one position left in food service at the general store. The job description included scooping ice cream and making coffee. So say hello to the newest ice cream scooper at Yellowstone! I’ve heard that that best way to cure an addiction to ice cream is to work in an ice cream shop. Guess now I’ll find out for sure.

Friends suggested that we start a blog, and Rob came up with the name. I created this logo to highlight the ice cream connection. But once I started creating the blog, I found I really preferred Yellowstone’s Roosevelt Arch as a focal point. At least for now, since we’re going to Yellowstone. But Flavors can encompass a lot of different topics, viewpoints, or adventures. Only time will tell where this blog will go…
