My Aunt Alice and Uncle Ted paid us a visit on their own epic national park tour a couple weeks ago. So we took the opportunity to spend one day of their visit at the upscale hot springs I mentioned in an earlier post: Quinn’s Hot Springs! Quinn’s is located a little south of Wild Horse Hot Springs, a couple hours away from where we live, and is absolutely stunning. The only problem is, we’re never able to enjoy them because they’re always booked on the days we want to go!

But I figured out a workaround for this: book a room in one of their cabins! Your pool visit is free, and you can soak all day long and into the night. So that is exactly what we did! Like the old L’Oreal ads, it cost a bit more, but we’re worth it.

When you check in at Quinn’s, they give you a bracelet with a magnetic chip that serves many purposes: first off, it acts as your room key and gets you into the hot springs pools and dressing rooms. It also serves as a charge card so you can charge drinks, meals, and other amenities directly to your room! Probably goes without saying that the thing is waterproof, so you leave it on for your entire visit. And predictably, we charged way too many things to our room. But it was so great to be able to get a refreshing soda or coffee while sitting in the hot spring!

Everyone is also issued a robe in their room, which people typically wear at all times when they’re not in the pools, leading to some hilarious moments when we all went to dinner at the on-campus bar & grill and along with everyone else, ate dinner in our bathrobes. Kind of reminded me of my favorite movie, Defending Your Life, with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep, in which everyone in the afterlife wears something called a “tupa” throughout the movie.

Alice said she’d never soaked in a hot spring before, so I wanted her first experience to be really awesome. And Quinn’s did not disappoint! They have 7 pools with different temperatures and age limits, so we could all hang out in the Adult pool and not get splashed! There’s also a cold plunge, which Rob took advantage of, along with a couple hot plunges. And really, there’s not that much else to do. So we soaked all afternoon and into the evening, then got up and soaked the next day until our reservation ran out!

I’m hoping they get less busy toward the end of the season, but even if not, I’m not above reserving another room. Makes a nice recovery at the end of a long work week!

I only wish it and you were closer, or vice versa, so we could do it again. It doesn’t get much more relaxing than that.
Sounds Divine!
